low self esteem

What is theSelf esteem?

It is the quality of those who value themselves, of those who are satisfied with themselves, with their way of being, their way of thinking and their physical appearance. This satisfaction is expressed through confidence in their actions and opinions.

What is low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem means that your self-esteem is shaken, making it difficult to see yourself positively. Unlike a passing state where you eventually feel down and even unhappy, in this state, we remain with that feeling that demands attention and care. Our self-esteem does not depend on how other people see us, but on how we feel.

How is low self-esteem formed?

We all have mental programs that we develop mainly during our childhood. Criticism or lack of attention from parents and rejection passed through an unwanted pregnancy, abandonment and even abuse create the interpretation flows of these programs through which we generate feelings of inferiority and/or unworthiness. For example, an older sibling may have avoided playing with a younger sibling who cannot keep up with the pace of play. The youngest may therefore be building a programming of inferiority and inadequacy through his feelings of frustration and rejection.

In adolescence and adulthood, this programming perceives information from the environment in a particular way, forming feelings that end up limiting us. We start to feel that we don't deserve it, that we are passed over or that we won't be able to reach our goals, as well as believing that others are better and that we are not recognized. These feelings cause the need for recognition and make criticism as very painful situations. Commonly used expressions:

_I don't do anything right;

_Nobody likes me;

_I am incompetent;

_ I'm really stupid.

Strategy to stimulate self-esteem.

Establish an area in your life that you want to boost. Set a goal, and notice how you would be feeling when you reached it.

Score from zero to 100% your level of certainty in achieving a goal.

Decision power!

The first step before taking a direction is to honestly answer three questions:

  1. Do I really want to do this?

  2. Can I do it?

  3. Should I do this?

The answer to these three questions will have to be yes.

After this phase, the power of decision enters, which should be understood as a necessity.

_I really want to change and therefore I will change!

Feeding our energy of action.

The activity to achieve our goals will depend on our energy of action. Remembering that a change starts with a need, but its realization will depend on actions and attitudes.

After we start the path of a project, we must have a well-built strategy that will feed our energy in going where we want to go. We need a change in our neurology. One tip is to turn actions into a habit. I recommend reading about this strategy:
